Description
The Grand Island North light stands on Grand Island, which is eight miles long and three wide to the north of Munising. The Grand Island North light can only be seen from the water. The lighthouse, now a private residence dates from 1867 (the station at this site dates from 1856) and the light has been inactive since 1961. While it was still active, the light had a focal plane of 190 feet and was second only to that of Huron Island.
