Description
The small Munising Rear Range Light stands at the end of Hemlock street about two blocks behind the front range light. Many people driving along Michigan 28 see the front range light without ever realizing that the small 33' rear range light is up in the woods to the left as you're heading west on 28. The light is, however, very easy to get to and the vegetation in front of the light is kept clear since it is still an active aid to navigation. The lights are owned and maintained by the Pictured Rocks unit of the National Park Service.
While this light in and of itself is not particularly significant, it is interesting to note that this is the 400th US lighthouse added to the lighthousefans.com database.
