Description
The original Deer Island lighthouse was a caisson lighthouse and was dismantled by the USCG when it fell into disrepair. It was replaced by the present fiberglass tower on the original caisson. The light is best seen from the water. I happened to have photographed it from the MV Carnival Victory going into Boston. It can be seen, however, from Deer Island. Boston's Logan Airport can be seen in the distance in the top of the posted photograph.
