Description
The Ashtabula Harbor Light is the 3rd built to guide ships into Ashtabula Harbor. The first was built in 1836 and replaced in 1976. The current lighthouse was built on the breakwater in 1905. The walk out the breakwater is long and across VERY uneven stone blocks. The day I was there it was getting late and I didn't have the time to make the trek although I dearly wanted to.

You can view the lighthouse distantly from the Great Lakes Marine and US Coast Guard Memorial Museum on Walnut Street. To get to the breakwater, go west on Walnut Street, turn right onto Lake Street and follow it to Walnut Beach Park. Go past the park's parking lot and continue toward the lake. You will find a gravel parking area right at the breakwater with stairs that take you to the top of the breakwater.

One of the photos above was shot from in front of the museum at a focal length of 1200 mm. The other was shot looking out the length of the breakwater. Atmospherics were a problem the day I was there blurring the image with the extremely long focal lengths.
