Description
The Buffalo South Entrance South Side lighthouse was built just after the beginning of the 20th century, a light first exhibited in 1903. The tower was important for ships delivering raw materials to the Lackawana Steel plant located near the lighthouse. The lighthouse is a unique design with a cylindrical brown base, a conical white middle section, and a cylindrical lantern room.
The lighthouse is a challenge to photograph unless done from the water. The photographs shown on this page was shot at a focal length of 900 mm from a marina off of Furman Blvd. You can see the diamand pattern in the lantern room photos on the cropped image.
