Description
Crossover Island is located in the Thousand Islands region of the St Lawrence River. The lighthouse was in operation from 1848-1941 when it was deactivated. The lighthouse and island that it sits on has been sold several times, most recently in 2002. As evidenced by one of the photos, freighters pass reasonably close to Crossover Island on their way up or down river.
Crossover Island can be seen from River Ledge Rd, which parallels NY 12, between Conger Rd and Oak Point Rd. I was trying to spot this lighthouse at dusk the first time and missed it completely. It is easily seen in the daytime, however.
