Description
Mobile Bay Light was actually built in the Northern U.S. and shipped to the South because of labor costs in the late 1800's. The light was damaged by a hurricane in 1916. In 1935, the light became automated and as a result of no light keepers maintaining it, by 1984, it had fallen into disrepair. The Middle Bay Light Centennial Committee stepped in and had stabilized it by 1993 . By 2002, it was in need of new repairs and was completed in 2003.
